Travertine - Sedimentary, a form of limestone, durable when sealed with resins, used for indoor and outdoor applications

Falling under the sedimentary category, travertine is formed in underground rivers and streams, which gives the stone its distinctive smooth yet porous surface. Usually it is creamy or tan in color with a slight hint of red. In its natural state, it has many holes that were formed from water flowing through the stone. If the holes are filled with resin, it is a durable stone used in building applications in Italy and elsewhere. Here we typically use it for bathroom vanities, fireplace surrounds, stairs, floors, tiles, etc.
