Marble - Metamorphic, hardness varies, can scratch or etch, not heat resistant, 100’s of colors available, mostly used for fireplace surrounds, bathroom vanities, etc.

Marble, falling under the Metamorphic category of stone, is a recrystallized limestone. It formed when the limestone softened from heat and pressure and recrystallized into marble where mineral changes occurred. The main minerals are calcium and dolomite.

Marble ranges in many colors and is usually heavily veined showing many grains. Typically used for light use areas such as vanities, fireplace surrounds, floor and wall tiles, etc. Each piece has its unique story written and created long ago.
