Granite - Igneous, hard, durable, heat resistant, scratch resistant, known as the earth’s oldest building material, 1000’s of colors available, wide range of uses such as countertops, floor and wall tiles, stairs, thresholds, vanity, desk tops, etc.

A story as old as the earth itself, granite was formed long ago. Formed by the molten rock found at the core of the planet, granite owes its hardness and density to the fact that is has been solidified under extreme pressure over millions of years - then pushed towards the earth's surface - eventually forming a substance that approaches the hardness and durability of diamonds.

Granite can be found on every continent in the world. And, although many varieties of the stone exist, granites have three essential minerals in common: Feldspar(50 percent or more); Quartz (25 to 40 percent); Mica (3 to 10 percent). One important fact about granite is that its mineral makeup occurs in differing proportions; giving each slab of granite its own unique characteristics. Other minerals may also be present in smaller amounts, adding to the variation in color and texture of each granite. The beauty and uniqueness comes from the varying movements or flow. Each piece has its own unique story written and created long ago.
